Covid 19




As a member of the Assosication of Mountaineering Instructors, Mountain Expertise will work to their recommendations, as well as local and national advice. We are committed to run safe, appropriate and enjoyable courses for you. The safety of local communities and country as a whole along with our instructors, students and their families is of primary concern.

Current Welsh Government Guidelines (updated 10th October 2020)

Gwynedd has not changed but Conwy & the city of Bangor are now in a local lockdown.


The rules currently applying to Gwynedd
Groups of 30 people may meet up outside. No more than 6 inside (from 14th Sept).
General campsites with shared shower and toilet blocks are now open for tents and vans.
Cafes, pubs and restaurants can now allow people inside.
Climbing Walls in Gwynedd are open.


Please be aware the Welsh or UK government may change any of the above at short notice.


Changes to our operation due to Covid


All clients will be asked to fill in a covid medical form in addition to the normal participation form. We will check on how people are feeling each day, please let us know if you have any symptoms. 


Transport
We ask that our students transport themselves to venues each day, to maintain distance. 

Health of instructors
All instructors will complete the same Covid statement concerning symptoms and their possible contact to others with symptoms. They will follow current local and national government guidelines. 

Equipment
Where possible can you please bring your own personal equipment as per the kit list on the joining instructions. If this is not possible mountain Expertise can provide and will quaratine after use. All technical equipment will be washed/disinfected or have been quarantined for 72 hours before being used by another booking.


Food

We ask that clients make sure they have plenty of food and drink for the day, and recommend the use of hand sanitiser before and after eating. 


Additional Equipment required
We ask that clients bring a mask or suitable face covering (https://www.virustaticshield.com these are great much easier to use than standard masks) and hand sanitiser. 

First aid kit - can you please provide a simple first aid kit for yourself to deal with blisters and minor cuts and to include gloves and rubbish bags. Instructors will have first aid kits but for minor injuries we will try to support you in doing your own first aid, to reduce contact. 

Working practise
We will endeavour to observe current guidelines for social distancing. Working outside helps to reduce the risk, we will limit sharing of equipmentFrom 11th July 2020 we are able to be in closer proximity to clients if the 2m distancing is impractical. In these situations the instructor will ask for masks to be worn and limit the length of time in close proxmity. 

Covid Cancellation policy
Should you need to cancel due to a Covid related issue then a change of date or full refund will be offered. Should Mountain Expertise have to cancel a change of date or full refund will be offered.
